Book of the Week | A Thousand Splendid Suns
Are we completely Revolutionized Or there are many aspects we need to work on?
Hello, Y'all! Festive Greetings
I can sense your excitement sitting across the screen, to start a new challenge, push yourself to read, and empower yourself and we are here.
The onset of a New Year is the time for new beginnings, resolutions, and positive changes. While these changes are as refreshing as the first snow of the year, they also bring a lot of undesirable situations that build a person's character. The way the character is weaved makes you feel all their emotions, particularly, when it's a book by Khaled Hosseini.
The first theme is here and I'm super excited to read and discuss this amazing book with you because it has been on my wishlist for a long time. The theme for this week is 'Vive la Revolution' and we'll be reading 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' by Khaled Hosseini.
Are we completely Revolutionized Or there are many aspects we need to work on? Hosseini pushes you to think beyond your day-to-day life and transports us to Afghanistan, his motherland, and walks us through the revolution that took place there, not from his eyes but the eyes of a mother and daughter who in midst of all the battles have their own to fight.
What's the book about: Mariam is only fifteen when she is sent to Kabul to marry Rasheed. Nearly two decades later, a friendship grows between Mariam and a local teenager, Laila, as strong as the ties between mother and daughter. When the Taliban take over. life becomes a desperate struggle against starvation, brutality, and fear. Yet love can move people to act in unexpected ways and lead them to overcome the most daunting obstacles with a startling heroism.
Pick up the book and devour it, enjoy it curled up in your bed or while lounging on the porch with a cuppa tea.
